Mumbai-Nasik flights have been wound up. Ofcourse it is not a fault of the people of Nasik, but it does suggest that Nasik still does not have the industrial critical mass to sustain a flight. The concept of subsidizing flights as they do in the US will never catch on in India, for sure. Also the airport is probably way too much out of the city.

Probably not much of a deal. But it does not feel right for a city to not have an air transit option.

Nasik is getting popular for its wine now and will make it to the big times if not for the fact that it has to cater to mainly Indian tastes. Sugar content comes into play as a result. But they are still popular and there was a recent Wall Street Journal article on the same.
